There Is No 'Gay Gene'

Yet another pet theory of the left has fallen by the wayside. In case you have not heard, the complete human gene code has now been mapped, and scientists have dealt a fatal blow to the "gay gene" theory.
For years, homosexuals and their advocates have defended their deviant and unnatural sexual behavior by claiming it was genetic -- a reasonable explanation; after all, who would intentionally chose to act so depraved?
A lot of sympathetic people, who fell for the idea that condemning homosexuality was "discriminatory," based those feelings on the assumption that the behavior was in fact built in, i.e. genetic, and that they were "born that way." This also assumes

an inability to change, and to socially condemn something that was in fact normal and biological was in effect fighting the laws of nature.
People like myself on the other hand assumed that if God made man, he certainly would not program into him something so contrary to what sex was all about -- reproduction. Even if you buy into the Darwinian evolution theory, how would a behavior that fails to reproduce itself survive? The very definition of survival of the fittest is based on reproduction: the best genetic material out-produces the inferior, and onward and upward we climb. Homosexuality, evolutionarily speaking, would be at best a negative genetic mutation that fails to reproduce itself, and even worse, causes premature death to those who engage in it. If such genes did exist, how could they have survived through the ages?
Thanks to modern genetic mapping, these questions have been resolved, although the question of why people have homosexual feelings still remains. This is truly the most difficult part of the whole equation,

 
and one that creates a strong feeling of sympathy even from hard-liners such as myself for homosexuals.
Regardless of genetic or not, approximately 2% of the population define themselves as homosexual. These feelings are apparently dominant; however, sexually, there is no natural outlet for physical expression of such feelings. Thus, in an effort to gratify their sexual urges, homosexuals must simulate natural intercourse, i.e. engage in unnatural behavior.
Nature has built in checks and balances, and crossing those lines inevitably invite trouble. For male homosexuals in particular, who tend to be very promiscuous, the consequences are devastating. Life expectancy for male homosexuals is about 30 years shorter than male heterosexuals. While AIDS has changed this somewhat, even before HIV homosexual males had dramatically shorter life expectancy.
For lesbians, who compared their male counterparts are much less promiscuous, the effects are not as physically dramatic, although various physiological problems are disproportionate with lesbians, as are negative behavior traits such as physical violence and "domestic partner" abuse.
Although I sympathize to a degree, the truth is

if we all were to allow our sexual appetites to govern us completely, to in effect be totally depraved in every respect, a complete breakdown of all aspects of civilization would occur.
Look around right now and see the destruction and human unhappiness created by opening the door a bit since the 1960's and the "sexual revolution." Major expansions in divorce, abortion, illegitimacy, juvenile delinquency, adultery, incest, pornography, child molestation, venereal diseases, infertility, and for homosexuals in particular, death through AIDS are some of the long term results.
Sexual behavior, after thousands of years of human experience, and in almost every human society, has been given strict guidelines on what is and is not acceptable. Today, these boundaries are frequently dismissed as unnecessary, discriminatory, even archaic, but when you see the consequences of ignoring them, the wisdom of the ages shines through. Homosexuality has been consistently regarded as one of the ultimate taboos.
While I do not believe in persecuting homosexuals, I also do not believe such behavior should be promoted and made socially acceptable, either. Now that the "gay gene" theory has been proven
